The charr are a feline race native to the land of Tyria, who live in a militaristic society. They are nominally split into four Legions, the Blood, Ash, Iron, and Flame legions, each with their own specialty. You can find more information about Charr at the GW2 Wiki.
The Blood Legion is the front line of the Charr Legions. They are known for their blunt and direct approach, crushing the Legion's enemies underfoot, and making up the majority of the infantry and direct strike forces fielded against the enemies of the Charr.
Athena is a middle-aged charr who works as a sniper in the Blood Legion. She has proved herself time and again as a crack shot, though some find her approach more Ash than Blood. As a firearms aficionado, she also keeps a pair of pistols at her side for when the enemy gets too close, or for when sniping is not feasible and she has to get up close and personal alongside her allies. She prefers to maintain her weapons herself rather than trust them to Iron Legion technicians, and the customizations she has made to them over the years have increased their effectiveness even further when in her hands.
While her guns are her main specialty, she's also managed to pick up a couple tricks from the chronomancers as well. With a flick of the wrist, she can slow time around a chosen enemy for a brief moment, and then speed it up for those nearest to her.
Rhea is a young paragon among the Charr, with a gift for leadership. Specializing in magics that motivate and command simply through her voice, she carved a path through Zhaitan's front lines with her unit as one of several Vigil commanders during the assault on the undead dragon.
Scourge is a ranger in the Storm warband. A practiced tracker, he prefers to get up close and personal with his hammer and twin maces, and commands a pair of pet wyverns named Scorch and Sparky, of the fire and electric subspecies respectively.
The Ash Legion is the intelligence arm of the Charr Legion war machine. They specialize in subterfuge, information gathering, and indirect warfare.
Lyris is one of the very few Charr mesmers among the Legions. A master of illusion and cloning magics, she prefers to wield a staff, confusing and wearing down her opponents by duplicating herself and striking them from all sides, leaving them to try and guess which one is the real her. Strike then fade; the Ash way.
The Iron Legion is the heart of the Legions. Their machines enhance and reinforce the fighting ability of the Legions, and their tanks and aircraft technology led directly to the airships and modern combat warfare employed by the Pact and the Tyrian Alliance today.
Glitch earned her nickname because she tended to miss small details in her designs. Her "Ghostbore musket" was actually her first design that worked perfectly, and proved to herself that she could finally start working toward her dream: an actual autonomous weapon. While her prototype turrets worked, they were immobile, and usually of a singular focus, which was far from ideal. The sacrifices needed to allow quick deployment also shortened their lifespan, though at least the components could be collected and reused afterwards.
Despite her Priory connections, she was seldom able to get a look at an actual intact, working Asura golem, but eventually she was able to cobble together what later were called gyros. A first step, but like the turrets, they were each built for a single purpose.
Finally, once Cantha's technology became available she was able to make another breakthrough. True, it relied on Jade power systems, rather than the reliable and well-known steam-ley machinery she had been utilizing before, but the concentrated power output in a miniaturized housing allowed her to finally create a true mechanical warrior. Unfortunately, due to its reliance on a Jade reactor it proved unable to be mass produced by the Iron Legion, at least thus far, but like Zojja's Mr Sparkles, her Jade Sentry design has proved useful both on and off the battlefield at her side. Unfortunately, her software skills proved less polished than she'd hoped, and occasionally the simple intelligence in the machine caused it to live up to her old nickname and select subpar targets, so she linked it to her headset so she can override its judgement subroutines when needed.
Her new understanding also allowed her to reconfigure her armor's steam-ley enhancements with jade-powered superchargers, increasing her natural strength and aim sevenfold. Her experiments with jetpacks proved unsatisfactory however, and she eventually returned to her old reliable assault glider design, which with her new enhancers proved much less unwieldly to carry around. After all that time she spent in Maguuma Jungle during the campaign against Morderemoth, it felt safer to have it than not.
Glitch is my main character in Guild Wars 2, with the most time by a large margin. She is also my oldest Guild Wars character.
Grom was never much of an inventive genius, but the machines of the Iron Legion need someone to maintain them just as much as they need someone to design them. Part of one of several Steel warbands, he serves as a mechanic in the Iron Legion's motor pool, and repurposes his favorite tools when it comes time to fight. Typically he can be found using wrenches and cutting torches in a fight, and he keeps the torches charged with ley energy to strip extraneous magic from enemies he strikes with them.
The Flame Legion once controlled the Charr nation, but after subjugating others under the thumb of the Titans, they were overthrown and exiled. Centuries later, in teh wake of a Elder Dragon-sparked civil war, much of the Flame Legion renounced their old ways and rejoined the ranks of the Legions, bringing back magic long ignored and forgotten to the warlike race's arsenal.
Rahna is the daughter of a Flame Legion shaman who was adopted into the Ash Legion as a young charr. Studying the ways of fire and spear, she followed the way of the elementalist, and when the Flame Legion rejoined the Legions in the wake of the Charr civil war, she transferred back to the reborn Flame.
On another note, while she is technically Tyria's version of the Rahna under my primary characters, I chose to include her as she does have enough differences from the original Rahna that I felt it worthwhile.
